The Passato Remoto is used in literary texts, historical accounts, and biographies for actions completed in the distant past with no direct link to the present.

Regular Endings

• -are (parlare): parlai, parlasti, parlò, parlammo, parlaste, parlarono
• -ere (credere): credei, credesti, credé, credemmo, credeste, crederono
• -ire (sentire): sentii, sentisti, sentì, sentimmo, sentiste, sentirono

Key Irregular Forms

Many verbs have irregular root changes in the 1st singular, 3rd singular, and 3rd plural (e.g., nascere → nacqui, nacque, nacquero; vedere → vidi, vide, videro; essere → fui, fosti, fu, fummo, foste, furono).
