Indirect pronouns replace the indirect object, which answers the questions "To whom?" or "For whom?". In Italian, they almost always replace a noun preceded by the preposition "a".
Verbs like: piacere, dire, dare, chiedere, rispondere, scrivere, telefonare, mandare, regalare.
Note: Unlike direct pronouns, indirect pronouns DO NOT cause past participle agreement in the passato prossimo! (e.g., Le ho scritto - I wrote to her).
What is the grammatical difference between direct and indirect object pronouns?
